City of Playford restriction updates

Published Tue 04 Aug 2020

Good afternoon,

I hope you are well.

The State Government has announced updated restrictions at licensed venues that take effect from midnight 4th August which apply to all sporting clubs and community groups.

Changes to Food and Beverage Consumption

-          Alcoholic beverages may be consumed by spectators at sporting events if the spectator remains seated.

-          For dining and drinking all patrons must be seated at tables that are physically separate from any bar or are where orders are taken.

-          Any shared equipment and frequently touched surfaces at a recreational facility must be cleaned between use by different individuals or groups.

What does this mean for your club?

The number of patrons has not been reduced, so club members and visitors should still be encouraged to support the club if they feel like a feed or drink. If your club is serving meals after training or matches, the patron must be seated to consume all food and beverages.

Food and beverage can continue to be purchased by spectators through your canteen, however while general canteen food and non-alcoholic beverages can be consumed while standing, alcoholic beverages and meals must be consumed while seated.

Maximum Capacity Update

-          Changes to capacity only effects a residential premise. All licensed venues (eg: sporting clubs) can still adhere to the capacity of 1 person per 2sqm.

With the changes to capacity at a residential premise, your club may be approached for venue hire. It is important to remember the following:

-          If your facility is being hired for a function (eg: birthday party), they must adhere to the club’s COVID Safe Plan

-          If the proposed event is to be held on the reserve the hirer must be directed to Council to make the booking

Please feel free to contact me if you require any assistance or clarification, and please keep across correspondence that may be provided by your sport’s governing bodies regarding changes.

Kind regards

Tyson
